A leaf, a flower, a fruit or water
Whoever offers Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, that loving offering of the pure-hearted I accept.
पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।
तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः ॥
patraṃ puṣpaṃ phalaṃ toyaṃ yo me bhaktyā prayacchati .
tadahaṃ bhaktyupahṛtamaśnāmi prayatātmanaḥ ॥
Related Gita verse: Gita 9.26
What pleases the Lord is not the price of the offering but the love behind it. Sudama's handful of rice and the simple greens at Vidura's home are examples of this truth.
Life lesson: cultivate the habit of offering your food and every action to God first.
