Bhagavad Gita World

The mind is mastered by practice and detachment

Undoubtedly, O mighty-armed, the mind is restless and hard to control; but by practice and detachment, O son of Kunti, it can be restrained.

श्रीभगवानुवाच ।
असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम् ।
अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते ॥

śrībhagavānuvāca .
asaṃśayaṃ mahābāho mano durnigrahaṃ calam .
abhyāsena tu kaunteya vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate ॥

Shri Krishna accepts Arjuna's difficulty: the mind truly is as restless as the wind. Yet through regular practice and gently letting go of needless attachments, anyone can calm it.

Life lesson: meditate or chant for a little while daily; consistency is the key.
