Original text
Author: Pt. Shardha Ram Phillauri (1837–1881)
This aarti is a prayer to Hari, Lord of the universe, who removes the troubles of His devotees in an instant. Shri Krishna is Hari Himself, so it is lovingly sung in Krishna temples as well.
The devotee says: whoever meditates on You receives the fruit; the sorrow of the mind vanishes and happiness and prosperity come to the home. You are my mother and father; in whom else could I take refuge?
You are the complete Supreme Soul, the knower of every heart, the Supreme Brahman and the Lord of all. You are the ocean of compassion and the sustainer. You are one, beyond the senses, the master of every life; how can I, of small understanding, reach You?
O friend of the humble, remover of sorrow, stretch out Your hand; I lie at Your door. Remove my worldly cravings, take away my sins, and increase my faith, devotion and service to the saints. At the end the devotee says: body, mind and wealth are all Yours; I offer You what is already Yours.
