Bhagavad Gita World

Better one's own duty, though imperfect

Better is one's own duty, even if imperfectly done, than the duty of another well performed. Even death in one's own duty is good; another's path is full of fear.

श्रेयान्स्वधर्मो विगुणः परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात् ।
स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेयः परधर्मो भयावहः ॥

śreyānsvadharmo viguṇaḥ paradharmātsvanuṣṭhitāt .
svadharme nidhanaṃ śreyaḥ paradharmo bhayāvahaḥ ॥

Every person has a different nature, ability and responsibility. Fulfilling one's own role honestly, instead of imitating others, brings true success and peace.

Life lesson: stop comparing; walk your own path with sincerity.
